Lithium chloride has deliquescence, salty taste, and is easily soluble in water. Purification is usually achieved through the precipitation of sodium chloride during the evaporation process. triple effect evaporation is commonly used for sodium precipitation. Due to its corrosiveness, titanium is generally used as the material.
If it is necessary to concentrate lithium chloride to produce the product, single effect evaporation is often used due to the high boiling point of lithium chloride. By controlling the operating temperature, anhydrous lithium chloride can be obtained through evaporation.
working principle
Evaporation of LiCl aqueous solution can yield LiCl · 2H2O crystals, and above 98 ℃, anhydrous salt can be obtained. However, heating until the crystal water is completely removed simultaneously hydrolyzes and loses some HCl, resulting in the product being alkaline.
